SR. CONTROLLER - Top Finance Position – Hybrid – Great salary and bonus! Some Tax Experience Required!


Unique opportunity to serve as the top accounting and finance advisor to this dynamic private investment company.


Experience with all facets of accounting, finance, budgeting, forecasting, treasury, risk management, and investments.


Real estate accounting and finance experience is highly preferred (including loan agreements, construction liens, development projects, limited and general partnership operating agreements, investments, due diligence, etc.).


Some tax experience is also required, particularly partnership tax experience including tax planning.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities of the Sr. Controller:

  • Managing and directing Accounting, IT, Risk Management, and other departments.
  • Providing accurate and timely financial data for budgetary and financial decisions, tax planning, and return preparation.
  • Overseeing risk management and insurance programs, ensuring timely renewals, claims management, and compliance with contracts.
  • Leading personal and estate tax planning strategies.
  • Providing strategic direction and supporting key initiatives across all divisions.
  • Establishing and monitoring effective controls, processes, and procedures.
  • Directly supervising accounting staff and ensuring adherence to accounting and internal control policies.
  • Managing relationships with external partners such as banking, insurance, and accounting.
  • Overseeing the preparation of financial reports, including income statements, balance sheets, and budget variance reports.
  • Monitoring debt levels and compliance with covenants.
  • Collaborating with the legal department to review and approve contracts.


The Requirements for this Sr. Controller Position include:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting; Master's Degree or equivalent experience preferred.
  • Certified Public Accountant
  • Polished business professional can bring strategic vision but also train and mentor staff.
  • 15 years of experience is required with at least 7 years in a management role.
  • Experience in Real Estate is highly preferred.
  • Some tax experience is required, particularly partnership tax and tax planning strategies.
  • A combination of public accounting and industry experience is preferred
  • Strong leadership and mentoring experience.
  • Experience working with and/or managing other functions such as Legal and IT.
  • Ability to deal collaboratively with other business professionals within and outside the organization.
  • Experience in overseeing general ledger for multiple entities and managing transactional processing cycles such as accounts payable and payroll.
  • General knowledge with investment accounting, equities, hedge funds, and private equity investments.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and leadership skills.
  • Experience with online banking platforms, wire transfers, and reporting.
  • Excellent computer skills, accounting systems conversions experience a plus.


Target salary range: $200,000 - $225,000 DOE. Significant discretionary bonus potential. PTO, medical, dental, vision, 401k and more!
