Fluids/Mechanical Analyst II - Tubing
Location: Kent, WA; El Segundo, CA; Van Horn, TX; Merritt Island, FL; Phoenix, AZ; or Highlands Ranch, CO
Contract: 6 month to start - up to 2 years or conversion to FTE
- Compensation: $40/HR - $65/HR DOE and Location
Role Overview: We are seeking a Fluids/Mechanical Analyst II with expertise in tubing for aerospace applications. As part of our team, you will perform strength and stress checks on tubing systems critical to our spaceflight operations.
Responsibilities:
- Perform strength and stress checks on engine feed lines, fuel lines, and other tubing systems.
- Conduct analysis using Nastran or similar software.
- Work with high-pressure tube lines for engines or large airframes.
- Generate drawings, including tolerance and GD&T setup.
- Integrate structural analysis with loads and dynamics environments.
- Develop, refine, validate, and correlate finite element models.
- Conduct strength checks and generate analysis reports.
- Develop test and verification plans and reports.
- Support configuration development and trade studies.
Qualifications:
- B.S. degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, or Civil Engineering.
- 2-4 years of aerospace/space industry experience.
- Proficiency in Nastran (or similar software).
- Experience with high-pressure tube lines for engines or large airframes.
- Ability to perform hand calculations for structural analysis.
- Strong foundation in structural static and dynamic fundamentals.
- Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with COPV pressure vessel design and analysis.
- Experience with metallic and fluid lines design and analysis.
- Knowledge of composite design and analysis skills in any thermoset, thermoplastic, metal matrix, and ceramic matrix composites.
- Familiarity with manufacturing methods, material selection, testing, characterization, and allowable development.
- Proficiency with ProEngineer Wildfire 4 / Creo Parametric or greater, especially the piping/routing module.
- Experience with human spaceflight and composites.
- Knowledge of AIAA S-080 and S-081, and EJMA Ninth and Tenth Edition standards.
