This part-time position is responsible for fundraising to support the Atlanta Botanical Garden, Gainesville, including major gifts and membership contributions. Primary responsibilities include identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of prospects and donors, as follows:
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
Manage a portfolio of major gift and high-level membership prospects and donors
Plan and implement cultivation activities to strengthen relationships with donors and prospects
Plan or support membership and donor programs and events
Development proposals, appeals, and solicitations for key projects, initiatives, and sponsorships
Include key staff and volunteers in solicitation strategies
Participate in face-to-face solicitations
Maintain a pipeline of donors for solicitations, proposals, and sponsorships
Work alongside the Membership team to grow the Gainesville membership base
Nurture relationships with donors
Attend Garden programs and special events, as appropriate
Partner with Advancement team to ensure fulfillment of membership and sponsor benefits
Develop annual work plan and revenue goals
Provide regular updates to the Gainesville Garden Director and the Vice President of Institutional Advancement
Collaborate and coordinate with the Advancement team to ensure solicitation, stewardship, and cultivation align with the overall Garden fundraising plan
Maintain accurate donor records in both Raiser’s Edge database, call reports, and digital and traditional paper files, as appropriate
Perform other duties as assigned by Gainesville Garden Director
Requirements
The ideal candidate will have a minimum of one year of face-to-face solicitation experience and a proven track record in the identification, cultivation, solicitation, and closure of high-level membership gifts and/or major gifts. The position requires excellent written and oral communications and interpersonal skills, strong project and time management skills, attention to detail, and the ability to develop and maintain good donor relations. Experience working with volunteers is a plus.
The ideal candidate will be results-oriented with excellent organization and planning skills, an entrepreneurial self-starter, and a team player with energy, enthusiasm, and flexibility as well as familiarity with the Gainesville/Hall County donor community. Strong negotiation and presentation skills and full computer proficiency are required. Competency with Raiser’s Edge preferred. The position requires an undergraduate degree. CFRE (Certified Fund Raising Executive) is a plus
Physical requirements include, lifting (up to 20 lbs.), bending/reaching, extensive walking during event set up. The position requires an undergraduate degree and a minimum of five years of experience in development and event management.
