Thank you for your interest in serving as a member of the Board of the Multifaith Alliance Inc. (MFA). Founded in 2013, MFA is a U.S.-based 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to addressing displacement crises. Our mission is to make a tangible difference in the lives of refugees and internally displaced people by harnessing the collective power of over 100 faith-based and secular partners.

MFA is seeking qualified and inspiring individuals to join a group of decision-makers who can influence the current and future direction of MFA. The information included here will provide an understanding of who we are, what we do, and the skills and time/resource commitments of this position.

Organization Background

MFA’s work began with raising public awareness of the Syrian crisis and organizing advocacy efforts on Capitol Hill before expanding to include humanitarian relief efforts in 2016. Since then, MFA has specialized in delivering high-quality medicines and medical supplies, emergency food and non-food items valued at more than $500 million. These efforts have served over 2.5 million households in hard-to-reach areas of non-government-held Syrian territories, northern Iraq, Lebanon, and Ukraine.

We also directly implement healthcare and clean water projects throughout northern Syria, and sustain the activities of dozens of hospitals, medical facilities, and camps.

On Capitol Hill, we continue advocating for informed, inclusive approaches to policies that impact the lives and livelihoods of displaced communities, including refugee resettlement, humanitarian intervention, counter-terrorism, and anti-normalization.

Board Membership

We seek to expand our Board of Directors by welcoming several proven leaders and changemakers who value the critical need for our work. After more than a decade of war, Syria remains one of the world’s most complex humanitarian and security emergencies. Board members must be prepared to help MFA advance to the next stage of its development by supporting its core mission and facilitating the expansion of its programs.

The following information and application offers us an opportunity to know more about you, your skills, attributes and what you would bring to our board. It also gives you a sense of what we seek in a board candidate. The goal of our process is to determine if we are a good fit for each other – your level of commitment and ability to fulfill our expectations – and knowing what motivates you and how you think about our organization so that we can help to create an excellent board experience for you.

Thank you again for your interest in our work and for taking the time to provide the application materials with thought and care. We look forward to reviewing it with that same level of thought and care and to continuing our conversations.
