Broadcast Director

KBMT KJAC-TV, 12News (ABC & NBC) in Beaumont, Texas is looking for a full-time Broadcast Director. The person filling this role is responsible for executing newscasts and other local programs utilizing manual switching operations.

The Broadcast Director will work closely with our news, production, and technical teams to produce fast-paced, compelling, and comprehensive newscasts & programs.

We are looking for someone to bring forward-thinking production ideas, strong technical knowledge, and the ability to manage quality control at a high level. In addition, the candidate must also be familiar with all studio operations, including floor directing, camera operation, teleprompter, graphics creation, audio, lighting, non-linear editing, content management systems and master control systems.

Responsibilities

  • Direct live newscasts using a Sony manual switcher.
  • Oversee the overall look of newscasts and on-air programming; identifying and correcting potential problems before they hit the air.
  • Maintain studio operations and tidiness (i.e., lights, sets, etc.).
  • Perform graphic creation for newscast elements.
  • Troubleshoot technical systems when required.
  • Other broadcast production duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Experience with manual production switchers, ENPS, BitCentral, and Chyron graphics systems is a plus.
  • Ability to adapt quickly and respond effectively to breaking news, severe weather, or other unexpected events.
  • Excellent communication and organization skills, with an emphasis on working as a team with multiple departments.
  • 3 years’ experience directing in a medium or major market is a plus but not required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, TV Production or related degree preferred but not required.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule.
