Reports To: Used Car Sales Manager/Director

The Pricing Analyst Is Responsible For The Analysis And Optimization Of Used Car Pricing Strategies To Maximize Profitability And Inventory Turn. This Role Requires a Strong Understanding Of Market Trends, Data Analysis, And The Ability To Make Informed Pricing Decisions Based On a Variety Of Factors Including:

  • Market Data: Local, regional, and national trends, competitor pricing, auction data, and industry publications.
  • Vehicle Data: Features, condition, mileage, and online click-through rates.
  • Inventory Management Systems: Reynolds and Reynolds data and other inventory management tools.
  • Pricing Tools: Max Digital, vAuto, JD Power, Kelley Blue Book (KBB), auction house data, Manheim Market Report, Black Book, and more.

Responsibilities:

  • Provides leadership and development to vehicle pricing and acquisition team members
  • Develop a data-driven pricing formula that incorporates information from multiple sources to achieve optimal pricing for used vehicles.
  • Independently verify and adjust automated pricing suggestions provided by tools like Max Digital and vAuto.
  • Market Analysis: Continuously monitor and analyze local, regional, and national used car market trends, including competitor pricing, auction data, and industry publications.
  • Data Collection & Analysis: Gather and interpret data from various sources, including inventory management systems, Max Digital, Reynolds data, sales reports, and third-party pricing tools.
  • Pricing Strategy: Develop and implement pricing strategies that align with the dealership's overall sales goals and profitability targets.
  • Reporting & Communication: Prepare regular reports on pricing performance, inventory turnover, and market trends, and communicate findings
  • Technology Utilization: Utilize pricing software along with lead data and other tools to automate and streamline pricing processes and make necessary adjustments.
  • Compliance: Ensure compliance with all applicable laws and regulations regarding vehicle pricing and advertising.
  • Team Leadership: Work with pre-owned team to accomplish goals and evaluate results to facilitate needed pricing adjustment practices.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Background in Data Analysis, Inventory Management, or comparable field.
  • Experience: 2 years of experience in automotive pricing systems (vAuto, Max Digital, Inventory Plus, Manheim Market Report, Auction houses, valuation guides, Black Book KBB, JD Power, etc).
  • Skills:
    • Analytical Skills: A strong foundation in data analysis, interpretation, and problem-solving is crucial to identifying trends, making accurate forecasts, and developing effective pricing strategies.
    • Data Proficiency: Expertise in collecting, organizing, and analyzing data from various sources (e.g., inventory systems, market reports, auction data) using tools like Microsoft Excel, SQL, or specialized pricing software (e.g., vAuto, Manheim Market Report, Black Book).
    • Market Knowledge: A deep understanding of the used car market, including factors that influence pricing (e.g., vehicle condition, mileage, demand), competitor strategies, and local/regional trends.
    • Pricing Strategy: Ability to develop and implement pricing strategies that balance profitability with inventory turnover and align with the dealership's overall goals.
    • Technical Proficiency: Experience with inventory management systems, pricing tools, and data visualization software is essential for efficient and effective pricing analysis.
    • Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills to convey complex findings and recommendations clearly and concisely to sales teams, management, and other stakeholders.
    • Adaptability: The ability to adapt to changing market conditions, respond to new information quickly, and adjust pricing strategies accordingly.
