Purpose

This role is a part of Ravago’s Domestic Transportation Department. The department supports ~30 of Ravago’s Business Divisions and manages a transportation budget of ~$125M and ~150,000 shipments annually. As a Coverage Transportation Coordinator, your main responsibility will be filling in for any region during any period the assigned coordinator is out of the office. This position will have the opportunity to work on every region in the Ravago Domestic Network. You will be responsible for making sure any delays or deviations from requested pickup and required delivery are effectively communicated to the affected parties in as timely of a manner as possible. The Coverage Transportation Coordinator should be able to complete follow up on all pickups and deliveries in a time frame that allows for a proactive response from the rest of the Transportation team to any delays. The Coverage Transportation Coordinator will be expected to collaborate closely with the rest of the Transportation team to help with rescheduling pickups, arranging redeliveries and expedites, as well as keeping all necessary parties informed along the way.

Areas of Responsibility / Tasks

Performance must reflect appropriate level of expertise and achievement of the desired results for the items listed below.

  • Area of Focus (In order of percentage of time spent on activity, importance and/or priority)
    • Act as a direct contact for Account Managers, Customer Service Representatives, Product Coordinators, and Management for any transportation inquiries
    • Manage a region (based on shipment origin-point) and maintain responsibility of scheduling/coordinating all shipments moving within that region during a designated coverage period
    • Actively monitor designated shipments within our TMS and ensure shipments are being booked with as much lead time as possible.
    • Proactively and efficiently communicate with other coordinators regarding pending and open items for a designated coverage period.
    • Secondary Area of Focus (In order of percentage of time spent on activity, importance and/or priority)
    • Support excellent carrier and warehouse relationships.
    • Ability to provide rotational afterhours coverage for 2-3 weeks of the year.
    • All other duties as assigned

    Minimum Qualifications/ Education / Experience / Certifications
  • Education:
    • A four-year college degree is desired or equivalent experience considered in lieu of degree.
  • Experience:
    • Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in transportation and/or warehousing preferred.
    • Knowledge of transportation modes and warehouse operations.
    • Must possess excellent interpersonal and problem-solving skills.
    • Must have experience using a TMS system, 2-3 years preferred.
  • Licenses / Certifications:
    • Valid driver’s license – required
  • Language:
    • Proficiency in English required
    • Fluency in Spanish is a plus
