Senior Ecommerce/Retail Buyer

High volume ecommerce reseller that specializes in consumer electronics is seeking an experienced Senior Ecommerce/Retail Buyer to lead new product line efforts. Our company has been in business for over 50 years and employs over 200 people across three locations (Brooklyn HQ, NJ warehouse, NJ satellite office). Our employees are passionate, smart, hardworking, and considerate - and together they accomplish great things.

The candidate will be responsible for purchasing/merchandising goods for our thriving DTC ecommerce business. We have a robust DTC business centered around consumer electronics and we are looking to expand into new categories - namely computers, pet supplies, exercise equipment. The ideal candidate has proven success buying/merchandising any of these categories in a high-volume ecommerce company

This position is responsible for both the buying decisions and the sell-through across our ecommerce channels. This position oversees the profit and loss for their assigned category. The candidate will need to be skilled in vendor & sku evaluation, revenue/profit analysis, negotiations, and selling strategies for various ecommerce channels (website, Amazon, Walmart.com, etc.). The candidate must also have strong interpersonal skills to work with team members and suppliers. This is a hands-on role, and the ideal candidate must be comfortable working regularly with our ERP system and business intelligence software to support their recommendations.

Responsibilities

·        Lead the companies buying/merchandising efforts in either Computer, Pet or Exercise Equipment categories by opening up the vendors, selecting the skus, setting the pricing and selling strategies to ensure sell through.

·        Researches and analyzes markets, vendors, and products, with attention to potential revenue, profit and sell through

·        Identify and open vendors. Negotiates prices and terms for purchased goods and services.

·        Issue PO’s and oversee sku creation process

·        Track sales and enact changes (pricing, promotion, content) to meet velocity targets

·        Coordinate with inventory team, management, and warehouse as required.

·        Develops and maintains relationships with wholesalers and suppliers.

·        Negotiates contracts with vendors.

·        Assesses financial risks of purchases.

·        Attends trade shows, product exhibitions, and conferences to maintain current understanding of new products and trends.

·        Performs other related duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities

·        Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

·        Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or related software.

·        Efficient typing skills, with an emphasis on accuracy and legal aspects of purchasing.

·        Ability to compile information and make decisions.

·        Ability to work under pressure.

·        Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

Education and Experience

·        At least two years of ecommerce/retail buying experience required.

·        Bachelors degree in Business, Economics, or related field preferred.
