Position: Underwriting Director - General Liability Umbrella Lines of Business (Fully Remote)

Position Summary

Join our Corporate Underwriting Team as an Underwriting Director for our General Liability Umbrella lines of business. In this role, you'll serve as a leader in our primary combined lines of business on a national scale. Your responsibilities will span across Commercial and Specialty Businesses, offering advanced expertise and guidance. You'll closely collaborate with Business Leadership teams and the Field Organization, ensuring alignment with company objectives.

Responsibilities/Essential Functions

• Collaborate effectively to drive top and bottom-line casualty results, spanning multiple business segments.
• Provide long-term strategic guidance to ensure effective corporate execution.
• Monitor and analyze loss trends and industry developments, offering insights and recommendations to senior leadership.
• Lead initiatives to address emerging risks and influence positive outcomes.
• Deliver ongoing training enterprise-wide, guiding field personnel in underwriting execution and pricing.
  
  

Leadership & Coaching

• Foster a culture of accountability and results-driven behaviors.
• Actively participate in our Casualty Working Group.
• Cultivate a spirit of collaboration and success within the organization.
  
  

Portfolio Development

• Manage the national casualty portfolio, identifying opportunities for improvement.
• Engage in national industry associations, contributing to industry dialogue and advancements.
• Develop corporate guidance and white papers on key issues impacting the casualty line of business.
  
  

Product Management

• Oversee casualty product design and related investment priorities.
• Partner with key stakeholders to develop sound underwriting practices aligned with industry goals.
  
  

Underwriting Guidance And Support

• Ensure overall corporate governance within the GL and Umbrella lines of business.
• Contribute to companywide education plans for commercial and specialty businesses.
• Identify and analyze casualty trends, recommending appropriate company responses.
• Provide guidance on specific underwriting executions and handle complex referrals as needed.
  
  

Required Skills, Key Competencies, And Experience

• Bachelor's degree (advanced management degree preferred).
• 10 years of experience in commercial lines underwriting.
• Demonstrated leadership experience in General Liability and Umbrella lines.
• Professional designations desired but not required.
