Summary

As a Database Architect you will be responsible for the strategic design, development, and oversight of our database systems and architecture. Your primary focus will be to ensure our databases are robust, scalable, and optimized for performance to support our business operations and analytics.

You will work closely with cross-functional teams, including data engineers, data analysts, data scientists, and software developers, to establish and enforce database best practices and standards.

Responsibilities

Database Architecture Design: Lead the design and development of high-performance, scalable database architectures to meet the company's data needs.

Data Integration: Develop strategies for data integration, ensuring seamless data flow across various systems and platforms.

Database Optimization: Implement advanced tehniques for database optimization, including indexing, partitioning, and query tuning to maximize performance.

Data Governance: Work with Cloud Operations to establish and enforce data governance policies, ensuring data quality, integrity, and compliance with SOC 2 and FedRAMP Moderate.

Data Modeling: Create, refine, and maintain complex data models, including conceptual, logical, and physical models to support business requirements. Especially key for modernization efforts.

Database Security: Work with Cloud Operations to design and implement comprehensive data security measures, including access controls, encryption, and auditing to protect sensitive data.

Scalability Planning: Work with Cloud Operations to plan and implement strategies for database scalability to accommodate future data growth and evolving business needs.

Technology Evaluation: Stay abreast of emerging database technologies and evaluate their potential benefits and risks for the organization.

Technical Leadership: Provide technical leadership and mentorship to database developers and other team members.

Disaster Recovery: Work with Cloud Operations to develop and maintain disaster recovery plans to ensure data availability and integrity in case of unforeseen events.

Documentation: Create and maintain detailed documentation for database architecture, configurations, and procedures.

Collaboration: Collaborate with IT, Cloud Operations and business teams to understand their requirements and translate them into database solutions that support strategic goals.

Requirements

• Education: Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field. Advanced degrees or relevant certifications are a plus.
• Technical Expertise: Extensive knowledge of SQL and database technologies, including experience with both relational and NoSQL databases, SQL Server, PostgreSQL and AWS RDS.
• Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in database architecture or a similar role, with a proven track record of designing and implementing large-scale database solutions.
• ETL Knowledge: Strong experience with ETL processes and tools for data integration and transformation.
• Problem-Solving Skills: Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills with a strategic mindset for database design and optimization.
• Leadership Skills: Strong leadership and communication skills to effectively guide teams and influence stakeholders.
• Attention to Detail: High level of accuracy and attention to detail in database design and implementation.
• Data Security: Deep understanding of data security principles and best practices to ensure compliance and protection of data assets.
• Project Management: Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, with strong time management and prioritization skills.
