Associate Director, Teaching and Learning

Overview

The Council on Foreign Relations (CFR) creates innovative educational resources that seek to equip students with the knowledge, skills, and perspective—the global literacy—required to understand the forces, ideas, and institutions that shape today’s world. These resources include CFR Education multimedia explainers and simulations . Each resource comes with companion teaching resources and activities appropriate for a specific target audience, be it high school teachers, college professors, and/or their students.

Working under the supervision of the Director, Teaching and Learning, the Associate Director, Teaching and Learning will collaborate on the development of all teaching resources to ensure products are accessible and effective for teachers and students.

The major responsibilities of this position will include (but are not limited to):

  • Manage collaborations with higher education institutions and platform partners to build courses that incorporate CFR Education content
  • Lead professional development sessions covering teaching strategies and pedagogical approaches for incorporating CFR Education and other Council resources for higher education faculty
  • Write and edit content and teaching resources for CFR Education including instructor manuals, mini simulations, packages of themed content, and test banks
  • Support marketing efforts, specifically aimed at the audience of higher education instructors

Qualifications

  • 5 years of professional work experience
  • Experience teaching classes as lead instructor in higher education
  • Degree in international relations, political science, area studies, history, or related field with high academic credentials
  • Experience presenting to higher education faculty
  • Experience managing complex long-term projects involving stakeholders across multiple organizations
  • Demonstrated ability to write clearly and accessibly about academic subjects for a general audience
  • Excellent writing, editing, proofreading, communication, and organizational skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively

Pay Range

$70,000 to $90,000 per year

Pay commensurate with experience and education
