About the role


We're looking for an editorial assistant to join our team of nearly 50 partners. As an Editorial Assistant specialising in maths, you will:

  • Carry out basic-level editorial tasks, including proofreading and checking the accuracy of print and digital publications for teaching and learning mathematics
  • Use specialist software and tools to produce educational content
  • Resolve content queries using your subject knowledge
  • Write and check answers to maths questions
  • Create mathematical images
  • Perform other administrative tasks


You'll learn what it takes to produce engaging and effective content for teachers and learners, whilst developing your editorial skills. You will work closely with experienced colleagues and be supported by a team leader.


About you


The following skills and qualities are essential for the role:

  • A degree in maths or a related discipline (e.g. physics or computer science)
  • Very high standard of literacy
  • Proficient use of Microsoft Office
  • Accuracy and attention to detail
  • Open and honest approach
  • Able to work to strict deadlines
  • Able to manage own workload and prioritise as required
  • Able to make decisions confidently, quickly and thoughtfully
  • Collaborative approach and excellent communication skills


The following are desirable (but not essential):

  • An understanding of the print or digital production/publishing process
  • Work experience in a publishing or digital technology business, or in teaching
  • Editing or writing experience
  • An understanding of the principles of instructional design
  • Experience using content management systems
  • Knowledge of HTML and XML
  • Experience using Microsoft Teams


You’ll also need to be flexible and prepared to step out of role occasionally to help a team achieve their wider goals.
