Laboratory Technician

\ We are looking for a full time outstanding individual to fill the position of Laboratory Technician at the Elkmont Veterinary Lab. This role will be responsible for processing and analyzing samples collected from the farms under direct supervision of the Lab Lead Technician. This role must maintain a high degree of quality, while working efficiently and cost effectively, while ensuring that all procedures are implemented by following company guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Maintain sufficient inventory of supplies to prevent work delays
• Accurately process and analyze samples in a time efficient manner
• Follow procedures outlined in the laboratory work instructions
• Prepare media and solutions used in the laboratory (as role requires)
• Enter samples and results into data management system
• Be willing to work weekend rotations
• Responsible for the quality of work performed as well as the quality of the product produced.
• Follow company policy and meet established procedures regarding bio-security, animal welfare, safety, ISO requirements, and drug/alcohol policy.
• Ensure all possible controls are in place to preserve and protect the purity and security of samples from possible contamination, loss or damage.
• Attendance is expected and required during normal working hours or during the assigned working schedule determined by the supervisor.
  
  

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Previous lab experience preferred but not required, based on department assigned
• Basic computer knowledge including creating documents and spreadsheets
• Ability to communicate via e-mail
• Ability to effectively identify a wide range of colors.
• Must possess the ability to apply common sense understanding to accomplish daily and weekly goals as well as deal with changing testing needs requested by supervisors or the veterinarian.
