Heart Share Human Services of New York has four preschools located in Brooklyn and Queens focused on maximizing the potential of every student no matter the learning disability. Through the use of the creative curriculum and symbolic play each student is provided with an education experience geared towards their individual needs. The Heart Share First Step Early Childhood Centers also provide speech, occupational and physical therapies. The school also includes the family, the most important component of a child’s life, in the educational and therapeutic planning for each student enrolled. Our goal is to work with each child to make them as independent as possible and succeed on their own in their futures. The school operates as a 12-month program including a 6-week summer program.

Duties

Curriculum Coordinators at The HeartShare Preschool provide tools necessary and integral in helping advance the student academic experience. Curriculum Coordinators at The HeartShare Preschool report to the Educational Director and works with the Leadership Team to ensure that every student at every level of development can reach higher levels of achievement. Some of the duties that Curriculum Coordinators hold includes:

  • Managing teachers, teacher assistants and aides.
  • Conduct informal/ formal observations. Provide written feedback of observations.
  • Monitor instructional staff daily, creating class schedules and plans.
  • Provide coaching to teachers on instructional practice and classroom management.
  • Involvement in planning and implementation of professional development training for staff.
  • Assume responsibility when the Director is not present.
  • Keep track of school supplies and equipment.
  • Meet with Admin & support staff for weekly meetings.

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Education or in a Master's program NYS B-2 License
  • New York State Certified School Building Leader, or eligible for School Building Leader
  • certification
  • Experience in Early Childhood Education and Special Education, at least 2 years
  • Some experience as an Assistant Principal or Dean of Instruction
