Job Summary

This position works in partnership with the Business Banking team and product partners to evaluate the financial condition of individuals and/or businesses applying for credit, assisting the Business Banker, Chief Banking Officer and Credit Administration Manager in the preparation of loan presentations. The Credit Analyst is also responsible for the on-going monitoring and risk management of an assigned portfolio.

Duties And Responsibilities

  • Analyzes applicant's business plan, financial status, loan repayment ability, net worth and earnings history for new, renewal and existing loans and assigns appropriate loan quality grades, summarized in a loan presentation and working in conjunction with a Business Banker.
  • Identifies the key risk factors and mitigants related to a specific transaction, as well as his/her assigned portfolio.
  • Develops a well-informed and balanced view of the business, financial, and competitive risks faced by a company, sector, and industry.
  • Interprets financial information and prepares reports for the Business Bankers and other areas of the bank when requested.
  • Assists with the credit underwriting platform including, but not limited to annual reviews, covenant testing, reporting, and document management.
  • Reviews appraisals and other third-party reports to assess collateral values and identifies potential risks in a particular transaction.
  • Maintains the commercial financial credit files with emphasis on the timely and accurate filing of financial data and due diligence items.
  • Provides technical advice and assistance to Business Bankers, Chief Business Banking Officer, Loan Review personnel and other key positions, as assigned and needed.
  • Maintains the financial information tracking system with an emphasis on the timely and accurate update of numerous financial data.
  • Participates in customer due diligence calls as necessary, attends client / bank meetings to develop a better understanding of the company, collateral and to assess management.
  • Performs tasks and other duties as assigned, which are supportive in nature to the essential functions of the job but which may be altered or re-designed depending upon individual circumstances.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in related field (accounting/finance/economics) or equivalent work experience.
  • 2 - 4 years of Commercial Real Estate and Commercial & Industrial credit/lending experience preferred.
  • Completion of a major corporate bank credit training program preferred.
  • Credit, structuring, and marketing experience.
  • Strong written, verbal, organizational, analytical, and interpersonal skills necessary.
  • Familiarity with financial institution's business banking procedures.
  • Must have computer software proficiency, particularly in Microsoft Office
  • Proficiency in the credit underwriting platform.
  • Must be able to read, interpret and analyze credit information.
  • Project management skills with the ability to prioritize and successfully handle multiple projects simultaneously.
