Responsibilities

The corporate communications and branding department is responsible for (i) promoting and maintaining Oaktree’s sterling reputation; (ii) creating and managing content that effectively highlights our business goals, executive talent, investment strategies, capabilities, and brand; (iii) managing all digital assets for the firm as well as its social media presence; (iv) managing media relations and all speaking engagements and Oaktree events; and (v) producing the firm’s thought leadership to raise awareness about Oaktree and its broad investment capabilities.

The Vice President, Editorial & Thought Leadership Will Collaborate With Many Internal Stakeholders To Create Content That Will Enable Oaktree To Remain a Leader In a Highly Competitive Field. Key Responsibilities Are Listed Below:

  • Develop subject matter expertise regarding Oaktree’s investment philosophy, investment strategies, and the markets in which we operate
  • Produce high-quality written, audio, and video content, working both independently and in partnership with product specialists, portfolio managers, and executives as well as external podcast and video producers
  • Oversee the Quarterly Insights Editorial Board Meeting with leaders from client relations, marketing, legal, and compliance to review the performance of the Insights program and confirm the upcoming calendar
  • Review and edit marketing and client relations materials as well as other corporate communications to (a) maintain a consistent Oaktree voice and style and (b) ensure that messaging is clear, concise, and audience-appropriate. Materials to review will include quarterly client updates, pitch books, fund launch memos, investment committee minutes, press releases, event invites, as well as all Insights content
  • Manage the content-approvals and distribution processes
  • Gain familiarity with compliance regulations and industry advertising rules to ensure that all content is aligned and compliant
  • Manage one direct report (Analyst, Editorial & Thought Leadership) to assist in the aforementioned responsibilities

Qualifications

  • 7-10 years of professional writing experience, with at least 5 years of experience in the financial services industry
  • Experience writing about alternative investments, fixed-income and/or equity markets, and general investment topics for a professional audience
  • Ability to translate complex ideas into engaging, audience-appropriate communications
  • A portfolio of editorial content exhibiting the candidate’s superb writing skills and creativity
  • Excellent project management and organizational skills
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting strict deadlines

Education

Bachelor’s degree (a liberal arts major from a top university); CFA or other financial services designation a plus

Base Salary Range

$160,000 - $200,000

In addition to a competitive base salary, you will be eligible to receive discretionary bonus incentives, a comprehensive benefits package and a flexible work arrangement. The base salary offered will be commensurate with experience and/or qualifications, industry knowledge and expertise, as well as prior training and education.
