In Kansas City, Honeywell Federal Manufacturing & Technologies (FM&T) manages and operates the U.S. Department of Energy/National Nuclear Security Administration’s (NNSA) Kansas City National Security Campus. Summary

This talented professional will perform a variety of vital functions to ensure the network infrastructure is available, stable, and secure. This includes the evaluation, design, selection, purchase, installation, configuration and maintenance of network systems, hardware and software. Serving as a primary subject matter expert, Sr. Network Analyst (analyst) will monitor the health of the network for an area of responsibility. In addition, the analyst will collaborate with senior personnel in planning efforts for future needs that set direction for infrastructure projects. Leads network analysis, design, development, integration and enhancements for large/complex project. Networks consist of LAN, WAN, SAN, WLAN, VoIP, RF and associated communications systems.


Duties and Responsibilities

  • Proactively manage and monitor daily network operations to maintain and increase network effectiveness.
  • Proactively identify and resolve issues before they become critical.
  • Independently analyze, isolate and diagnose complex problems, recommend remedial actions and implement resolution.
  • Works with cyber security to implement system security measures, assists with computer security plans and documentation and provides technical guidance and training.
  • Resolves cyber security issues by implementing and maintaining innovative technical solutions.
  • Design and implement complex firewall configurations and policies.
  • Leads troubleshooting efforts for complex network related issues.
  • Leads troubleshooting efforts related to ISP connectivity.
  • Provides technical leadership in their areas of responsibility and looks for ways to apply latest technologies for improvements to network and organizational effectiveness.
  • Utilize SIEM tools to search log data and perform analysis of complex events that may impact broad areas of IT systems.
  • Creates and maintains scripts in the support of automating enterprise services, user processes and infrastructure maintenance.
  • Mentors network staff, specifically in the management of network capacity, performance and troubleshooting concepts.
  • Utilizes established processes to lead the planning and execution of medium to large infrastructure projects.
  • Leads the development, implementation and maintenance of network infrastructure.
  • Uses knowledge of networking systems to help plan and install internal and external networks.
  • Coordinates work with project delivery organization to support the successful completion of projects.
  • Performs technical lead role for projects managed by project delivery organization.
  • Creates and/or updates network systems and cable plant documentation in various systems per established processes and standards.
  • Supports multi-site/multi-discipline efforts.
  • Supports multi-site projects with external partners.
  • Participates and leads incident management, asset management, change management, root cause analysis and continuous improvement of network systems.
  • Conducts activities in a safe and healthy manner and works in accordance with established HS&E requirements to ensure the protection of employees, the public and the environment.
  • Takes actions necessary to stop work when an unsafe condition or action is identified as every employee has the right and responsibility to stop work when unsafe conditions or actions are identified.


You Must Have

  • Experienced professional with 5 or more years of practical experience in a network engineer or network analyst role with demonstrated experience configuring, installing, troubleshooting and operational support of networking components such as routers, switches, wireless access points, load balancers and firewalls.
  • A minimum 5 years of experience in the design, engineering, maintenance and optimization of large, complex wide area and local area networks.
  • Bachelor's degree in the field of Information Systems, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Engineering or Physical Science with a minimum of 24 semester hours of computer related courses or two additional years of direct work experience in lieu of a Bachelors degree.
  • Demonstrated experience with troubleshooting and diagnosing advanced network issues including configuration issues, routing issues, performance concerns, software bugs, ISP connectivity, ISP routing and hardware failures.
  • Demonstrated experience developing instructions and guidelines for both technical and non-technical people.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting classified networks and/or highly secure commercial networks.
  • Demonstrated experience with network management troubleshooting and monitoring.
  • Demonstrated experience planning and executing medium to large infrastructure projects including the design, selection, purchase, testing, installation and documentation of network systems.
  • Demonstrated experience developing and maintaining network diagrams/documentation.
  • Demonstrated experience scripting in the support of automating enterprise services, user processes and infrastructure maintenance.
  • US Citizenship.
