Position Overview:

We are seeking an experienced Senior Director of Therapeutics to join our dynamic telehealth start-up. You will play a crucial role in leading and executing early-stage drug discovery and therapeutics development initiatives. Your expertise in drug discovery, especially in peptides, will help us develop affordable next-generation GLP-1 drugs for all Americans.

Who You Are:

  • You will build a team of scientists to develop new peptide-based therapeutics in categories like GLP-1, GIP, PYY, Amylin, and Glucagon agonists.
  • You will lead internal peptide therapeutics development projects from drug discovery to Phase-2 clinical trials.
  • You will collaborate with internal and external partners in drug discovery, technology, and biotechnology finance.
  • You will represent our company in research publications and conferences.


Managerial Responsibilities:

  • Build: Develop the Department of Peptide Therapeutics in collaboration with our People & Talent Team, and establish the facility.
  • Grow: Oversee early-stage drug discovery projects and review potential licensing & acquisition options.
  • Lead: Guide your team in developing novel peptide therapeutics.
  • Oversee your department budget and resource needs in collaboration with our FP&A team.
  • Manage relationships with external partners in drug discovery & development, CDMOs, and CROs.
  • Contribute to making next-generation peptide therapeutics affordable and accessible.


Qualifications:

  • Leading expert in peptide drug discovery and development with a strong record of prior discoveries and/or peer-reviewed publications.
  • PhD, MD, DO, DVM, or equivalent in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Medicinal Chemistry, or related field.
  • 7 years of experience in drug discovery and development, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
  • Hands-on approach, capable of doing lab work alongside your team.
  • High emotional intelligence and collaboration skills, able to explain complex concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Experience in building a team and facility from the ground up.
  • Documented evidence as an expert in peptide therapeutics development.
