Our Client, a privately-held global industrial company spanning an array of holdings, technologies and investments, is looking for a senior associate to join its growing accounting team. The client is looking for accountants that have a mix of 5 to 9 years of real estate accounting, fund accounting and/or corporate accounting experience. Simply put, there are some similarities to fund accounting in that the client has investment structures with several entities that consolidate into the "main entity" with profits then allocated to investors. This role requires candidates are in the midtown Manhattan office 4 days a week. Only candidates with the correct level of experience will be considered.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Prepare real estate, corporate, and personal financial statements, annual budgets and ongoing liquidity analysis
- Perform month end close and review process from general ledger accounting to report issuance
- Ability to create ad-hoc financial statements and reports
- Conduct monthly variance and budget to actual analysis to identify discrepancies and explain results
- Record as well as review journal entries in the general ledger over a variety of transactions
- Record as well as review intercompany transactions and generate invoices as necessary
- Prepare construction budgets for residences and leasehold improvements
- Complete internal requests from Accounts Payable, Services, and Tax staff
- Monitor compliance with lease agreements, regulatory requirements, and company policies related to properties
- Process improvement initiatives, special projects, and other tasks, as requested
THE PERSON
- Targeting 5-9 years of relevant experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- Strong knowledge of US GAAP and accounting principles
- Advanced Excel skills
- Proficiency in accounting software such as Yardi or similar platforms, a plus
- Extremely detailed oriented and well organized; able to meet time sensitive deadlines
- Motivated to work in a meritocratic, non-hierarchical environment, in which work ethic, humility, collaboration, and a “roll-up your sleeves mentality” are critical
- Emotionally intelligent and keenly aware of culture
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Self-starter; proactive in learning and finding solutions; find/suggest improvements to processes
