We license all hunting, fishing and watercraft; oversee and permit all mineral extraction, monitor dam safety, manage water resources and serve as the second largest Law Enforcement presence in the State of Ohio.
We are accepting applications for a Natural Resources Technician 1 – Wildlife Area Technician, Appalachian Hills Wildlife Area (1 position available – Morgan County) and a Natural Resources Technician 1 – Wildlife Area Technician, Salt Fork Wildlife Area (1 position available – Guernsey County)within the Division of Wildlife, within the state of Ohio. What You Will Do…
Performing a variety of wildlife management practices for upland, forestland and wetland wildlife for habitat, recreation & conservation.
Project planning, transporting equipment, herbicide application and controlled burning.
Planting and manipulating food plots, fields & trees.
Maintaining dikes, water level control structures and manipulating water levels.
Using Geographic Information System [GIS] to understand habitat changes, plan projects & map wildlife area data.
Trapping, aging, sexing and banding waterfowl, barn owls, mourning doves & turkeys.
Assisting with the collecting of deer age, sex & condition data and conducting wildlife & research surveys for a variety of species.
Assisting in maintenance and operation of equipment and establishing property boundary.
Performing grounds maintenance of public use facilities.
Answering inquiries from the public & distributing general information.

Year-round, intermittent seasonal
Work Hours/Work Conditions…
20-40 Hours/Week (Typically 8 hour days but may include some long days, up to 12 hours)

This is a maximum duration, 1000 hour intermittent (unclassified) position for the Division of Wildlife. The location for these positions include:
Appalachian Hills Wildlife Area, Morgan County
Salt Fork Wildlife Area, Guernsey County
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Formal education in arithmetic that includes addition, subtraction, multiplication & division & in reading & speaking common English vocabulary; valid driver’s license; valid Commercial Driver’s License required if motor equipment is of type & size regulated by Section 4506.01 & 4506.12 of Ohio Revised Code.
