What is the opportunity?

The purpose of the origination role is to market, structure and execute securitized transactions for the warehouse finance team focused on non-traditional ABS (“NTABS”) sectors including (among others): aircraft leasing, data centers, media/film assets, handset finance, solar loans, equipment, fleet lease, floor plan, rental cars, and shipping containers, and to be responsible for providing high quality products and services for RBC’s clients while at the same time generating a material source of revenue, favorable risk/return profile, cross-selling opportunities and client impact for RBC.

Job Description

What will you do?

  • Production of marketing materials for existing and target clients
  • Perform data analysis, including statistical stratification of collateral portfolios, historical performance statistics, projection of future performance expectations, and derivation of expected case losses.
  • Prepare credit memorandums that contain transaction terms and conditions, credit analysis, and a review of the key risks. Coordination of review and approval of transaction requests by Group Risk Management and the conduit equity provider (where applicable)
  • Assist with client sponsorship review
  • Prepare RFPs and transaction Information Memorandums
  • Assist with conducting client, seller, servicer due diligence. Prepare due diligence report
  • Assist with structuring of securitization transactions (initially with an analytical focus while developing legal and structural expertise)
  • Work with client and attorneys to develop and negotiate transaction legal documentation
  • Liaise with rating agencies to obtain rating agency approval of transactions
  • Assist clients in developing custom, menu driven settlement reports designed specifically to meet the terms and conditions of each transaction, where applicable
  • Work with clients to assist in extracting historical portfolio information and build credit enhancement model for each transaction.
  • Prepare required internal reports to track transaction performance
  • Assist with annual renewals of existing transactions
  • Run transaction returns and optimize financial resources consumed
  • Ongoing review and compliance of existing transaction performance
  • Prepare scope, review and comment on initial and annual transaction AUPs
  • Help with maintenance of client relationships
  • Other deal/client transaction maintenance as required
  • Proactively identify operational risks/ control deficiencies in the business
  • Review and comply with Firm Policies applicable to your business activities
  • Escalate operational risk loss events, control deficiencies and risks that you identify to your line manager and the relevant risk and control functions promptly.

What do you need to succeed?

  • Minimum of 0-3 years (depending on position level) of relevant experience preferred
  • Relevant securitization experience is preferred, but not required
  • BS in finance, economics or mathematics preferred but not required
  • Solid understanding of credit markets, financial accounting and statistics
  • Ambitious individual with strong presentation skills
  • Possess strong written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to prioritize and effectively manage a large workload in a high pressure environment
  • Ability to multi-task with little supervision
  • Ability to inter-act effectively & establish good working relationships with other personnel within RBC Capital Markets and external clients
  • High proficiency in Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Access
  • Strong quantitative and analytical skills

The good-faith expected salary for the above position is $110,000 depending on factors including but not limited to the candidate’s experience, skills, registration status; market conditions; and business needs. This salary range does not include other elements of total compensation, including a discretionary bonus and benefits such as a 401(k) program with company-matching contributions; health, dental, vision, life and disability insurance; and paid time-off plan.
