Lancaster University Lancashire, England, United Kingdom
No longer accepting applications

Social Mobility and Student Success (within the division of External Relations) is looking for an enthusiastic individual with a passion for working with young people to join the team in order to encourage social mobility and address educational inequality.

You will have a creative approach and experience of working with young people, teachers and schools/colleges to coordinate outreach projects and activities designed to raise attainment and broaden the aspirations of students from widening participation (WP) backgrounds. You will also liaise with key contacts to monitor the progress of students participating in these activities and provide constructive feedback to maximise their learning so that they are able to achieve their potential, irrespective of barriers.

This is varied role with the chance to develop your knowledge of a range of HE topics, including progression routes, student finance, the UCAS application process and student life. You will develop workshops and deliver presentations at partner WP schools and colleges so that young people and their parents are aware of the opportunities available at Lancaster University and are able to make informed decisions about higher education.

The capability and flexibility to work some weekends and evenings is an essential element of the role, along with a willingness to travel across the North West and occasionally further afield within the UK.

This is a full-time, indefinite role; however, we will also consider applications at 0.8 FTE. The role could be undertaken as a blended position with a mix of working remotely and working on campus, although solely working on campus is also an option. We particularly welcome applications from black and minority ethnic people for this role in order to increase our staff diversity in this part of the University.

For an informal discussion about the role, please contact Ele Dove, Widening Participation Officer [email protected].
