Job title: Starting Blocs Coach and Programme Coordinator

Location: Various with Head Office at Cardiff International Sports Campus, Leckwith, Cardiff (CF11 8AZ)
Working pattern: Full-time 37 hours a week. Flexible working patterns are available, and the role may involve regular working at evening / weekend events within the week

Role Purpose:
To deliver Welsh Athletics’ physical literacy program, Starting Blocs, across Cardiff and key focus areas, ensuring more children have the opportunity to participate in athletics activity. This role involves a element of delivery and coaching with the remainder involving elements of coordination and partnership working for the successful roll out of the programme to other parts of Wales.
Responsibilities
• To organise and establish new Starting Blocs sessions and holiday camps in identified areas with a focus on specific geographical locations including, but not limited to; Bridgend, Caerphilly, Cardiff, Merthyr Tydfil and Rhondda Cynon Taff
• To deliver weekly Starting Blocs sessions across identified area, supporting existing provision in Cardiff, Merthyr Tydfil and other areas
• To engage new audiences in athletics through Starting Blocs activity, both in schools and communities during school term time and the school holidays
• To deliver school ‘taster’ sessions, used to promote Starting Blocs as well as activities / initiatives as necessary.
• To deliver on Starting Blocs holiday camps within Cardiff and surrounding area
• To work with local clubs to signpost children into formal athletics opportunities as and when appropriate for their stage of development
Qualifications
• Holds a minimum of a UKCC Lever 2 Coaching qualification or equivalent
• Holds a current DBS, Safeguarding and First Aid certicficates
