Career Ladder Position:Only current SPS certificated staff may apply. Career Ladder positions are stipend roles that entail additional duties beyond a certificated contract. Teachers who apply must have an evaluation rating of proficient or higher in all eight TPEP criteria and a state student growth impact rating that is “average” or higher on their most recent comprehensive evaluation. This generalist position does not hold a classroom teaching assignment in addition to Curriculum Specialist duties. Responsibilities include development and ongoing support of the District's standards-based learning system, development and review of standards-based learning units, provide staff development to teachers on a variety of topics specific to curriculum, assessment and instruction, conduct classroom walkthrough observations on the effectiveness of professional implementation provide training to groups of teachers to enhance instructional techniques and provide a variety of support, resources and problem-solving for teachers and school administrators around curriculum, assessment, and instruction.
Assess the effectiveness of school's instructional program on a regular basis, using formative and summative assessment, common assessments, student work samples and student achievement data aligned to the CCSS.
Position reports to: Assigned Program Manager
This position is a term-limited Certificated Career Ladder position as outlined in the Certificated Non-Supervisory Employees Collective Bargaining Agreement between SPS and SEA. This position comes with an additional annual stipend per the Certificated Stipend Salary Schedule shown in Appendix E of this Agreement. Essential Functions
[Consultation] Provides support for the collection and use of school data and the implementation of academic achievement plans in schools; supports the District's Standards-Based Learning System, including curriculum, assessment, and instructional resources; guides school teams in academic decision-making, instructional and District priorities and professional development priorities; and coordinates academic services with the Offices of Special Education and English Language Learners. (15% of the time)
[Resources and communication] Develops and disseminates instructional resources and tools, including common standards-based assessments, using best practices and research; provides expertise and trains schools in the collection, use and analysis of resultant data with tools for improving instruction and student learning outcomes. (40% of the time)
[PD] Plans, develops, conducts and/or coordinates in-service staff development opportunities for district-wide teams in current research methods of instruction, assessments, and standards-based learning systems to increase academic achievement of students; trains teachers in a wide variety of skills and techniques; collaborates with teachers in the development and delivery of professional development; and facilitates school teams in data analysis and crafts action plans informed by the analysis.(40% of the time)
Attends a variety of meetings, conferences and seminars to maintain current knowledge of standards-based education school efforts, educational research, trends, directions and issues; communicates findings as appropriate. (5%)
Other Functions: Performs related duties consistent with the scope and intent of the position as directed by program manager.
