Safety Monitor

Primary Function/Purpose

The Safety Monitor will be directly responsible for all activities in the physical plant and ensuring civility amongst residents, visitors, and staff. He/she controls access to the facility twenty-four hours a day and will report any hazardous conditions within the facility and grounds to the Safety Supervisor on duty.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Ensures that the Safety Supervisors orders of the shift are followed.
  • Performs and ensures that all Detex patrols are completed and conducts the patrols on a half hour basis.
  • Communicates all pertinent information to the Safety Supervisor.
  • Ensures that all entries are made and accurate in the security desk logbook.
  • Obtain client signatures to complete Daily Attendance Roster.
  • Maintains a safe and secure environment for the residents, staff, and visitors.
  • Must be certified in First Aid and CPR.
  • Must be able to rotate shifts at the Director of Operations discretion and/or as needs of the business requires.
  • Utilizing the Department of Homeless Services (DHS) - Client Assistance and Re-housing Enterprise System (CARES) complete incident reports as needed.
  • Adhere to the Agency dress code for Safety personnel and maintain a clean, neat, and professional appearance at all times.
  • Drive the facility van when required.
  • Must maintain valid NYS Security License.
  • Must be available for overtime when business needs are required.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Two years’ experience in commercial and/or residential security services.
  • Must have an active New York State Security Guard License.
  • Good communication/writing skills, experience working with families / homeless population.
  • Must meet all the requirements regarding the Security Guard Act of 1992.
  • Must obtain a Fire Guard (F02) License.
  • Must successfully complete a background investigation.
  • Driver’s License preferred.

  • May be required to work long hours and a varied schedule to meet job demands and deadlines.
  • Periodically may bend, lift, and carry objects weighing up to seventy-five pounds.
