Position Summary

The Point of Sale (POS) System Administrator is driven, detail-oriented, self-motivated that can take pride in customer satisfaction to support ZooTampa’s point-of-sale systems. The Point of Sale (POS) Administrator is the technical point of contact providing support for the point of sale applications, databases and other associated technologies. The Point of Sale Administrator will be able to provide customer service, troubleshooting, and analytical skills, while also upholding the values, mission, and vision of ZooTampa.

Your day to day

Essential Functions (Including, but not limited to):

Technology Support:

  • Provide support including system and product configuration, troubleshooting and problem resolution, and management of product upgrades.
  • Provide assistance with database administration for all databases supporting ZooTampa’s point-of-sale-systems.
  • Provide desk-side assistance in resolving technology support issues.
  • Work with IT teams to develop and modify systems to meet current and future needs.


Business Process Support:

  • Provide technological recommendations and insights into the use of ticketing systems.
  • Audit current business processes on an ongoing basis to ensure consistency and accuracy.
  • Ensure compliance within the point-of-sale systems for any financial or regulatory requirements.


Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

  • Intermediate technical troubleshooting skill, including a growing ability to isolate, identify, and resolve problems with ticketing systems as it interacts with hardware, the customer’s network, SQL databases, Microsoft Office and third-party systems.
  • Maintain proficiency in point-of-sale systems covered in the System Administrator Certification Program.
  • Must be able to multi-task, manage time well, and work under pressure at an urgent pace while maintaining accuracy, experience with POS hardware, receipt printers scanners etc.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including exhibiting professionalism and diplomacy when working with customers and users.
  • Must be able to maintain absolute discretion regarding knowledge obtained through management of ZooTampa’s network and systems.


What are we looking for?

Education and Experience:

  • 1-2 years experience with Point-of-Sale (POS) and/or experience with Ticketing System systems with Galaxy/Pixel a plus
  • A combination of Industry related certifications, training, or Bachelor’s degree or other related certificates a plus.


Other Requirements:

  • Conducts all activities in alignment with AZA standards and guidelines, all relevant laws and regulations, safety standards, and standards that ensure animal welfare.
  • Often lifts and/or moves up to 30 pounds and stand for long periods of time.
  • A valid driver’s license, acceptable driving record, and willingness to drive a personal vehicle for event support activities is required.
  • Ability to work in extreme weather conditions typical to west central Florida (i.e., heat, rain, or cold)
  • Ability to use radio, telephone, and computer to communicate and follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Must be willing and able to work occasional varied shifts in support of ZooTampa’s events as needed. These can include holidays and/or weekends.
  • Must be able to work in a variety of physical positions, including sitting, bending, standing, reaching, and walking, and long periods of standing.
  • Must have ability to navigate paved as well as uneven sites and pathways.
