Position

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Lab Manager to join NILO Therapeutics as part of our burgeoning team. This is an exciting opportunity to shape the foundational systems and policies that will enable a rapidly-growing research team. You will oversee all aspects of laboratory management, ensuring smooth day-to-day operations and the development of critical lab infrastructure.

As the Lab Manager, you will work cross-functionally with NILO's research team and Head of Operations, our facilities partners, and external vendors to maintain a safe and efficient working environment. You will be a collaborative and service-oriented individual, passionate about developing processes that drive operational excellence within our lab spaces while upholding the highest standards of safety. Efficient time management, excellent organizational and communication skills, and a passion for enabling high-quality, translational science are essential.

What you'll do:

  • Develop and implement systems and protocols to ensure smooth operations, creating efficiency and driving continuous improvements.
  • Develop and implement protocols and training with EH&S consultants, uphold compliance, and conduct routine safety inspections of lab spaces.
  • Manage third-party vendors for stockroom supplies, vivarium and lab services.
  • Maintain inventory management system by conducting regular inventory checks, procuring lab supplies, and adjusting inventory requirements to meet demand.
  • Manage lab equipment including service contracts, repairs, calibrations, preventative maintenance, and new equipment installation.
  • Ensure the lab is well-maintained, exceeds safety standards, and remains clean and orderly.
  • Manage lab's equipment monitoring systems, shipping/receiving, and other facilities-related matters.
  • Provide support on day-to-day lab operational requests that arise from research teams.
  • Collaborate with the scientific team to industrialize assays and workflows across multiple R&D efforts.
  • Work closely with a diverse research team to successfully progress and support research goals, ensuring effective communication and collaboration.

Key Qualifications:

  • B.S. or higher, preferably in Engineering or Life Sciences
  • Experience working in a laboratory setting, with industry experience highly desirable.
  • Proficiency in laboratory techniques and protocols, including molecular biology, cell culture, and immunoassays.
  • Familiarity with lab safety protocols and regulations (e.g., OSHA, EPA).
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects
  • Attention to detail and a high level of accuracy in maintaining records and upholding processes.
  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot technical issues and implement effective solutions.
  • Excellent team player with the ability to work collaboratively across multidisciplinary teams.
  • Strong communication skills to facilitate collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic startup environment, working both autonomously and collaboratively.
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and new challenges as the company grows.
