General Manager - Greater Houston

Our client is a leading provider of vehicle repair and preventative maintenance services for all major vehicle makes and models. They operate with the pillars of honesty and integrity and prioritize customer safety and satisfaction. They are seeking a General Manager to join their team in greater Houston, TX to lead a team of service advisors and technicians in providing the best possible customer experience.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Ensure that store/shop is neat, clean, safe, and maintained environment and ensure customers are greeted professionally and feel welcomed when they walk-in
  • Ensure customers are assisted with any inquiries they may have, either by phone or in person in a professional friendly manner
  • Oversee and when necessary, perform customer service functions including walk arounds of customer vehicles and services related to automobile repairs; Tasks may include:
    • Preparing cost estimates for customers
    • Notifying customers of preventive and scheduled maintenance
    • Documenting customer concerns to enable the technician to properly diagnose and service the vehicle
    • Prioritizing required services, and be prepared to provide options upon request
    • Consulting with customer on applicable service specials
  • Oversee and when necessary, document repair orders thoroughly and follow through ticket/customer completion to the end
  • Remain in proactive communication with Automobile Technician for status updates in order to be abreast of any changes that need to be communicated with customer when needed
  • Provide timely communication with employees of changes, promotions, goals, scheduling, and other necessary communication with employees
  • Ensure all employees remain current with all OSHA training and other applicable training assigned
  • Review and approve time clock punches (adding notes when applicable), approve/deny time off requests
  • Follow all established procedures (phone scripts, documentation, ordering of parts, customer signature policy, disciplinary policy etc.), provide coaching and training when needed
  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of business (which includes, but not limited to customers, employees, vehicles, reports, scheduling, building) and addresses needs based on the needs of the business
  • Conduct performance evaluations that are timely and constructive, including but not limited to training, refresher training, role-playing
  • Work with human resources to ensure timely submission of documentation for discipline, coaching and other applicable processes are followed by standards and laws and company policies/processes
  • Handle discipline and termination of employees as needed, in accordance with company policy
  • Reconcile operating reports, accounts and records which includes sales with cash and receipts.
  • Report information daily to corporate for processing of business documents and sales
  • Work with multiple computer systems for reports, data, processing, ordering, and employee Hires and train employees
  • Draft and maintain operating reports as requested by the Regional Manager
  • Oversee and monitor inventory, and order supplies when necessary
  • Schedule and arrange necessary building and equipment maintenance for the shop
QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum 2 years of experience managing a store, or management
  • experience
  • Minimum 2 years of sales/customer service experience
  • Minimum 1 year oversight of a P&L for a store
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to interact well with different levels of employees and customers
  • Knowledge of automobile repair with ability to read and interpret technical manuals
  • Ability to identify issues and offer resolutions to customer automobile repair needs and communicate effectively with the customer
  • Proficient in Automobile Repair software (for repair orders/documentation/sales), preferred
  • Experience hiring and training employees
  • Enthusiastic personality with the ability to engage/motivate employees and improve retention; lead and manage shop/personnel through change
  • In the state of Texas, you must have your Emissions/State Certification, or become certified within 60-days of hire.
