Foster Parent Recruitment & Training Coordinator

Location: Winston-Salem, NC or Hendersonville, NC

Hiring Range: $44,000 to $53,000 annually

Education/Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree required. Field of study in social work or related human services preferred.
  • Minimum of two years’ experience in working with children and families, preferably in a mental health or child welfare setting.
  • Prior foster care/adoptions experience, specifically with recruitment and delivering training preferred.
  • Certification in TIPS/MAPP, Deciding Together (DT) certification, and/or North Carolina state foster care licensing training strongly preferred
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

  • Knowledge of Systems: Familiarity with state child welfare and mental health systems is preferred.
  • Relationship Building: Establish and maintain effective relationships with foster parents, coworkers, and community partners.
  • Discretion and Judgment: Exercise sound judgment and seek consultation when needed.
  • Technological Proficiency: Utilize Microsoft, Google Suite, and the agency’s online portal effectively.
  • Multitasking: Provide outstanding customer service while managing multiple responsibilities.
  • Cultural Competency: Work effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds and foster an inclusive environment.
  • Crisis Management: Operate well in crisis situations and address cultural issues affecting care.


Key Responsibilities

Recruitment:

  • Serve as the primary contact for prospective foster parents through various channels.
  • Conduct virtual and in-person interest meetings.
  • Provide clear and accurate information about foster parenting.
  • Review applications, conduct preliminary background checks, and assess eligibility.
  • Collaborate with the Licensing Family Caseworker to ensure smooth transitions.
  • Track inquiries and monitor applicant progress using our online portal.
  • Develop and execute recruitment strategies, including monthly reporting and social media efforts.


Training:

  • Participate in the Pre-Service training team, providing TIPS/MAPP and Deciding Together training.
  • Assess foster parent applicants based on NC DHHS’s 12 Skills.
  • Coordinate and execute continuing education for foster parents.


Licensing:

  • Conduct home assessments and guide applicants through the licensing process.
  • Ensure compliance with NC DHHS, COA, and Crossnore Communities for Children standards.
  • Maintain up-to-date foster parent records.


Quality Assurance:

  • Participate in the Performance Quality Improvement (PQI) process.
  • Run reports and statistics to facilitate data-driven decision-making.
  • Conduct case record reviews to ensure accuracy and compliance.
