The full salary range for this role reflects the competitive labor market value for all employees in these positions across the national market and provides an opportunity to progress as employees grow and develop within the role. Some roles at Liberty Mutual have a corresponding compensation plan which may include commission and/or bonus earnings at rates that vary based on multiple factors set forth in the compensation plan for the role.

Description

The Bilingual Accounting Manager- Expense Management is accountable for performance management of the cost center structure and expense allocation model between legal entities and lines of business, implementation and application of the expense allocation methodology within the general ledger, and ongoing reassessment of the allocation methodology with transformational changes in the company.

The Bilingual Accounting Manager- Expense Management will be a key contributor to the budgeting and forecasting of expenses in line with anticipated growth, as well as the monthly and quarterly assessment of expense results for the Regional Group Function.

This position will be involved in building out Expense Accounting internal control environment to the highest standard. This position is visible across the organization and partners closely with the Regional Leadership team.

Job Responsibilities

  • Collaborates with Liberty International Insurance Latin America and US (LII& US) Finance to develop and execute a strategic vision for redesigning the cost center structure, continuously upgrading the expense allocation infrastructure, automating processes, and simplifying the operating model.
  • Establishes the allocations framework by partnering with the Controllers and Finance Leaders in LII& US and external consultants.
  • Partners with various internal stakeholders to provide support for required expense data analysis including the utilization of benchmarking analysis to identify expense efficiency and best practice opportunities.
  • Builds out financial reporting process and controls to support the expense allocation framework to the highest standard.
  • Responsible for the preparation and analysis of monthly, quarterly, and annual expenses in comparison to historical and forecasted results.
  • Responsible for the Procurement process in the Region by managing supplier agreements, maintaining a centralized contract repository, and supporting the management of relationships with suppliers to ensure contractual terms, Group Policy, and Compliance requirements are met.
  • Leads the implementation and rollout of the new T&E policy in the Region.
  • Creates strong cross-functional partnerships between our Regional GRS (LSM West) finance, operations, claims, underwriting teams, and GRM/Surety teams to achieve and develop strategies to address processes and data-related issues.
  • Leads implementation of continuous process improvements opportunities working cross-functioning with other internal and external stakeholders.
  • Communicates effectively within the team and across organizational boundaries to create alignment and ensure the successful completion of shared goals.
  • Cultivates a strong collaborative environment focused on the development of talent, driving innovation, and sharing our identity and values.
  • Performs special projects as needed.

Preparation, Training And Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required. Postgraduate studies in Accounting/Finance or CPA active license is preferred.
  • Minimum of 7 years’ experience in accounting, including 5 years in expense management and allocation experience within an insurance company.
  • Experience with Global Accounting systems and SAP preferred.
  • Bilingual (English - Spanish) with a high degree of fluency is required.
  • Experience leading complex projects of process improvements.
  • US GAAP (or IFRS) experience is preferred.
  • Strong analytical and project management skills are essential.
  • Advanced MS Excel, Financial Applications (Finance BI).

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business or equivalent accounting experience, CPA preferred.
  • Extensive knowledge of accounting practices and procedures.
  • Extensive experience dealing with statutory authorities and expertise on statutory matters and compliance requirements.
  • Ability to assess and communicate financial implications of business plans and actions.
  • Ability to display profit orientation and business results focus. Demonstrates business partnering ability and focus on business results.
  • Ability to communicate in non-technical terms and present analysis in an understandable and concise manner.
  • Knowledge of reinsurance concepts and related accounting.
