About the School: An esteemed independent all-through school in Southsea is seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEN English Teacher to join their team. The school includes a specialized SEN provision housed in a dedicated building, catering to 15 students with learning difficulties. Known for its academic excellence and commitment to fostering a nurturing and inclusive environment, the school provides personalized education that enables every student to thrive.

The Role: The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching English to Key Stage 3 and 4 students with learning difficulties. Classes are small, with no more than 6 students, allowing for focused and individualized instruction. Responsibilities include:

  • Planning and delivering engaging English lessons tailored to the needs of SEN students.
  • Developing and implementing individualised learning plans.
  • Monitoring and assessing student progress, providing regular feedback.
  • Creating a supportive and motivating classroom environment.
  • Collaborating with the SENCO, teaching assistants, and other staff to provide comprehensive support.

The Ideal Candidate

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) with experience in SEN education.
  • Specialisation or significant experience in teaching English.
  • A patient, motivating, and encouraging demeanor.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to adapt teaching methods to meet the diverse needs of students.
  • Commitment to fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment.
