The Together Trust

Chief Executive

Salary: Starting at £126,175

Cheadle, Cheshire, with some travel across the North West

The Together Trust are one of the leading charities in the North West of England. For over 150 years, we have been championing and caring for people with disabilities and complex health needs, providing life-changing support for looked-after children and care-experienced people and delivering transformative education services.

Our vision is a society where everyone thrives because they are valued within their communities. The Trust is deeply rooted in its values and aspires to be person-centred in all its plans, practices, and behaviours and supports over 3,000 children, adults, and families each year.

This exciting Chief Executive position will play a vital role in shaping the Together Trust of the future by implementing the Board’s vision and providing strategic direction for the organisation in line with the core mission and values. Working closely with the Board of Trustees and the Leadership Team, you will have responsibility for developing long-term sustainable strategies and delivering outstanding quality services that cross the boundaries of education, health, and social care, tailored to the children and young people, and adults we support.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Act as the public face of the charity, promoting the interests of the Trust on local and national social care and education services agendas.
  • Develop a leadership narrative that articulates the Board’s vision and values.
  • Build an open, transparent, and effective relationship with the Board of Trustees and its committees.
  • Develop and lead a strong, coordinated, and effective leadership team, ensuring that the heart of the Together Trust operates strategically and collectively.
  • Ambitious in the pursuit of continuous improvement and innovation, driving digital transformation across the organisation.
  • Be a positive role model for the culture of the Trust. Ensures the Trust is a great place to work, with diverse, talented, and skilled individuals at all levels who embody our values and behaviours, reflecting the diversity of the community we support.
  • Ensure a robust, risk-aware, compliant, and financially sustainable environment in the Trust that supports growth ambitions whilst protecting the charity.

We are looking for an individual with substantial senior leadership experience at executive or senior director level in a large, complex environment. The ideal candidate would have experience of building constructive external relationships to influence policy, as well as experience of driving continuous improvement and innovation through leveraging digital technology. You will have a successful track record in translating organisational strategy and vision into successful operational objectives and plans.

You will be an ambitious, courageous, and inclusive leader with vision and high emotional intelligence, who can deliver challenging agendas through effective delegation and a range of leadership styles. With a strong commitment to a values based working environment, you will offer the agility and adaptability to lead the Trust through a period of change. Critically, you will demonstrate a strong commitment to achieving equity, diversity, and inclusivity in the provision of services and in supporting our colleagues.

The Together Trust aims to be representative of the communities we are working with. Applications are welcome from all. We are committed to making reasonable adjustments and positively encourage applications from those with lived experience.
