Under the direction of the Head of Technical Accounts you will be responsible for a wide range of tasks including control accounts, reconciliations & intercompany accounts. There will be a range of ad-hoc tasks to assist the wider team of Charitable Funds and Accounts Payable. All of these tasks assist in producing accurate and timely financial reports and information throughout the year, which enable the requirements of the monthly, quarterly and annual financial cycles to be met including the statutory annual accounts.
Main duties of the job
Job Summary
To assist in providing an efficient technical accounting function ensuring the integrity of the financial ledger is maintained.
Assisting with the production of reporting internally monthly and externally quarterly and annually, these reports support the financial performance of the Trust.
Knowledge, Training And Experience Required
AAT Level 3 or accounting NVQ4. Educated to GCSE standard or equivalent.
Detailed knowledge of Financial Accounts procedures.
Knowledge and experience of the use of office software and financial systems.
Skills Required

Detailed Job Description And Main Responsibilities
Technical Accounting
Working with the Head of Technical Accounts to assist with the production of the
Trust’s annual accounts and associated notes. Ensuring the schedules and annual accounts are linked to ensure consistency. These should be to a standard that can be presented to audit teams.
Responsibility for producing a section of the control accounts & reconciliations and alerting the Financial and Business Support Accountants to any problems and recommending appropriate remedial action.
Analysing and processing Losses and Compensation claims and completing schedules for quarterly presentation in a report format to Audit Committee and summarised for the annual accounts information.
To ensure that all deadlines are met, especially around the financial year end and that all information is produced to a high standard.
To support in all other aspects of Technical Accounts where required, particularly Charitable Funds. This will involve payment runs, reconciliations and day to day running.
Good level of communications to all stakeholders both internal and external to the Trust.
Financial Control and Governance
Ensuring that the Trusts policies and procedures in relation to technical accounting transactions are in place and kept up to date for the organisation, including elements of the Trusts SFI’s.
Accounting and Audit
Ensuring compliance with all relevant accounting guidance and manuals and provide appropriate advice to as required.
To work with Internal Auditors and External Auditors as appropriate to provide assurance on the Trusts systems and processes of internal control and on its external reporting output.
Staff Management and Development
Planning own work in order to achieve deadlines, agreed work plans and service standards.

Essential criteria
5 GCSE Grade C or over, including English and Maths (or equivalent)
AAT Level 3 or accounting NVQ 4 or equivalent knowledge acquired through experience

Education to A level standard or equivalent
Evidence of knowledge of finance issues probably derived from working in a financial environment
