Staff Accountant

Gaithersburg, MD or Auburn, CA

Your Tasks:

Contribute to the financial integrity of our organization by diligently preparing journal entries, conducting detailed analysis, and reconciling ledger accounts. Deliver accurate and insightful financial reporting and presentations, supporting informed decision-making across our organization. Actively engage in various related projects as assigned, demonstrating versatility and a proactive approach to achieving departmental goals.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for conducting detailed analysis and reconciliation of general ledger accounts.
  • Generate and reconcile journal entries, ensuring accurate and well-documented financial records.
  • Compile and prepare comprehensive financial reports on a regular and periodic basis.
  • Conduct audits of contracts, orders, and vouchers, as well as prepare detailed reports to validate employee transactions prior to final settlement.
  • Ensure adherence to GAAP and company policies through regular monitoring and reporting.
  • Identify, investigate, and resolve discrepancies in financial entries and documents to maintain accuracy.
  • Provide insightful recommendations on the accounting of reserves, assets, and expenditures.
  • Ensure readiness for audits, supporting audit preparations and processes.
  • Enhance operational efficiency by streamlining procedures and presenting recommendations for organizational improvement.
  • Assist with A/R and A/P functions.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or a similar function; Minimum of 2-4 years’ related experience and/or training within a similar accounting function; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Must possess a strong working knowledge of G.A.A.P. (generally accepted accounting principles).
  • Ability to operate a computer with Windows™ operating system, Outlook™ email, SAP™ financial system, databases, MS Office™ products.
  • Knowledge in Excel for financial analysis and reporting.
  • Knowledge of Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable functions.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines effectively.
  • Ability to maintain accuracy in financial records and reports.
