Job Description/Responsibilities

Southern Illinois University Edwardsville's School of Nursing is seeking qualified applicants for a Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) position. The preferred applicant is responsible for providing direct care to the We Care Clinic patients including assessments, ordering and interpreting diagnostic testing, developing diagnoses and treating patients who are seeking services through the We Care Clinic. The Family Nurse Practitioner will participate in the clinical experiences of undergraduate nursing and Nurse Practitioner will participate in community outreach activities. The Nurse Practitioner will adhere to clinic practices that meet current clinical practice guidelines and abide with laws, rules, standards and regulations related to clinic operations. The FNP will be subject to the annual evaluation of the FNP related to job performance in the clinic by the Director of the We Care Clinic. The FNP is a member of the School of Nursing faculty and a member of a department. Teaching effectiveness, scholarship, and service are evaluted by the Department Chair. This is a fiscal year appointment; the FNP might be assigned to teach one course per semester, not to exceed 7 credit hours per academic year.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Must possess a Master of Science or DNP in Nursing; board certified FNP
  • Must be licensed as a registered nurse and FNP in Illiinois. As well as an Illinois Controlled Substance License, DEA Certificate.
  • Must have a minimum of one-year experience working with other health professionals and educators.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in primary care environment.
  • Experience in serving as a preceptor in an NP program.
  • Advance practice authority.
