Garden Assistant - Part Time - Flexible Hours

SUMMARY OF DUTIES

Assists garden team and participating employees with garden preparation, crop production, planting, teaching and general garden upkeep.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS PERFORMED

1. <span style="font-style: normal;font-family: "Times New Roman";"> Communicates regularly with participating gardeners to answer questions and complete garden tasks.


2. <span style="font-style: normal;font-family: "Times New Roman";"> Provides care and maintenance for garden common areas, pumpkin patch, pathways, and berms.


3. <span style="font-style: normal;font-family: "Times New Roman";"> Assists with greenhouse production, monitoring and management.


4. <span style="font-style: normal;font-family: "Times New Roman";"> Assists with education for participants related to organic gardening principles, cooking and more.


5. <span style="font-style: normal;font-family: "Times New Roman";"> Creates a pleasant environment that is safe and secure for both the other gardeners and visitors.


6. <span style="font-style: normal;font-family: "Times New Roman";"> Assists with monitoring garden pests, weed problems and irrigation systems.


7. <span style="font-style: normal;font-family: "Times New Roman";"> Provides necessary feedback and follow up to ensure participants' garden boxes are tidy and well maintained.


8. <span style="font-style: normal;font-family: "Times New Roman";"> Performs miscellaneous duties as required or directed.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• <span style="font-style: normal;font-family: "Times New Roman";"> Education equivalent to a High School diploma and one year of related experience.


• <span style="font-style: normal;font-family: "Times New Roman";"> Ability to follow through on details and complete tasks with a minimum amount of direct supervision.


• <span style="font-style: normal;font-family: "Times New Roman";"> Good written/verbal communication and organizational skills.


• <span style="font-style: normal;font-family: "Times New Roman";"> Ability to work effectively with others.


• <span style="font-style: normal;font-family: "Times New Roman";"> Comfortable with working in all weathers and seasons.


• <span style="font-style: normal;font-family: "Times New Roman";"> Demonstrated computer skills preferably spreadsheets, word processing, database and other applicable software programs.


• <span style="font-style: normal;font-family: "Times New Roman";"> Valid driver's license and good driving record to use company vehicle.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• <span style="font-style: normal;font-family: "Times New Roman";"> Knowledge of organic/sustainable gardening methods and/or a desire to learn more.


• <span style="font-style: normal;font-family: "Times New Roman";"> Able to work a flexible schedule, such as weekends.


• Familiarity with Word, Excel and Publisher.


• <span style="font-style: normal;font-family: "Times New Roman";"> Spanish verbal communication skills.
