The EMT-B acts as an attendant on patient transports in accordance with Riverside Emergency Medical Services Systems Policies and Procedures; acts as a liaison between the patient and Emergency Room staff, the staff and the patient's family and other health care professionals. Readily assists team members to learn and understand new theories and treatments.

Blood and Body Fluids: EMT positions are exposed through patient care of traumatically injured patients, initiating IV therapy, endotracheal intubation, transfer of incontinent patients, and removal of deceased patients.

Speech: Ability to communicate clearly and accurately with patient and over communication devices.

Experience/Education Requirements
- High School diploma or equivalent required, Associate degree preferred
- Excellent verbal and writing skills
- Ability to organize
- Familiarity with use of two-way radio operations for emergency ambulance dispatching
- Familiar with medical terminology
- Typing, computers, and calculations License or Certification Requirements:
- State of Illinois licensure as an EMT-Basic
- Valid Illinois Driver's License
- 18 years of age required to meet insurability in Riverside's vehicle insurance program
- Insurability in Riverside's insurance program is a requirement of the position
- Certificate in Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation
- Completes daily and monthly duties with little supervision.
- Effectively communicates patient information to the hospital via the MERCI and cell phone utilizing the patient information communication sheet. (Radio Log sheet)
- EMT completes necessary forms with appropriate documentation.
- EMT constantly promotes a positive attitude towards their job and promotes positive teamwork with peers.
- Is respectful and courteous to fellow team members and customers .
- Provides patient care in a positive manner working as a team to better the patient outcomes.
