CA Pay Range (Base Plus Commission at 100%):

$189,000.00 - $351,000.00

Non-CA Pay Range (Base Plus Commission at 100%):

$170,100.00 - $315,900.00

At Infinera, your base pay is one part of your total compensation package. Your actual base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location. This role may be eligible for equity grants, discretionary bonuses, or commission payments. The amount of these incentives is based on the terms of the Company’s incentive plans, the Company’s financial performance, and/or individual employee job performance.

Director Field Application Engineering , Hyperscalers

The Director of Application Engineer (FAE) will be an exciting and technical, customer facing role to enable Infinera’s success in its emerging Pluggable and Component Subsystems business. This highly visible role is focused on driving growth in the hyperscale web customer base by supporting Design-In and Design-Win objectives of Subsystem’s Business Unit. The candidate is expected to work closely, with cross functional teams such as PLM, marketing, and sales to develop account plans, messaging, and presentations.

Responsibilities

The candidate must have a background in optical communications and/or coherent transmission. The candidate will be responsible for the following pre and post sales activities:

Pre-Sale

  • Build strong relationships with target hyperscale web technical stakeholders through product presentations, Q/A, seminars, network analysis.
  • Understand and uncover customer architectures, interconnect needs, and timelines via those same relationships. Enable customer stakeholder match ups with other Infinera team members as appropriate.
  • Organize demos, customer training and lab integration efforts.
  • Assess competitive threats and position Infinera products to win, while repositioning against competitor products.
  • Lead technical response for RFPs, RFIs and Technical surveys.

Post-Sale

  • Provide on-going technical support to hyperscale web as they integrate INFN Optical Modules into their system.
  • Provide and communicate technical collateral to customers supporting Design-In activities.
  • Enable NEM feedback to PLM and R&D on current and future product requirements.

Qualifications

  • Self Starter and motivated to succeed in emerging businesses, from technical discovery to presales to support, and into production.
  • Strong background in Data, Optical and/or Radio networking (Switch/Router, DWDM/ROADM, RAN and other CSP, ICP and MSO architectures) experience.
  • Prior hands on, technical domain in data center interconnect technology and/or A/I cluster technology with knowledge in at least 2 areas such as PAM-4 and coherent transmission, relevant SerDes, DSP/ASIC, photonics, and pluggable optics.
  • Understanding of technical process in qualifying pluggable optics into host systems such as routers, switches, and transport equipment is a strong plus.
  • Ability to diagnose common application issues encountered by customers. Solve quickly via organized mobilization of internal resources and owning customer relationship throughout technical support process.
  • Fluent in gathering customer requirements, assessing common trade-offs of competing solutions, and communicating value proposition to drive business outcomes.
  • Excellent and open style of communication to lead a large flex team of sales, engineering, PLM, and executive leadership toward meeting objectives with differentiated internal and external relationships.
  • Ability to be that bridge between the business and the engineering team
  • BSEE/MSEE degree in Telecommunication, Computer Science or Engineering
  • Minimum 5-year work experience in supporting sales of optical modules, DSPs or other optical components.
  • Customer related travel as needed
