Job Overview

Deputy Director of Public Policy and Partnerships

The Deputy Director of Public Policy and Partnerships plays a pivotal role in developing and executing public policy strategies and fostering strategic partnerships. This senior leadership position involves collaboration with government agencies, educational institutions, corporations, and nonprofits to advance policy initiatives and expand our organizational influence. Reporting to the Director of Public Policy and Partnerships, the Deputy Director manages a team of three and contributes significantly to shaping our policy agenda and advocacy efforts.

Responsibilities

Strategic Planning and Management:

Collaborate with the Director and team to prioritize department initiatives and update strategic plans.

Develop and monitor objectives and key results (OKRs) with the team, ensuring alignment across departments.

Utilize project management software to track projects and ensure timely deliverables.

Relationship Management

Support the Director and Executive Director in cultivating relationships with Council members and prospects.

Design and implement engaging programs for external partners.

Engage with corporate leaders, government officials, and education stakeholders to garner support for Decision Education.

Other Responsibilities

Manage a mini grant program to support Decision Education initiatives.

Collaborate on state and local policy initiatives with the Public Policy Manager and Advocacy Manager.

Work with the Communications team on projects like The Decision Education Podcast.

Review and enhance departmental policies and procedures for efficiency.

Qualifications

Experience:

10 years in partnership development, driving engagement across diverse stakeholders.

Project management experience with measurable performance metrics.

Prior team management and strategic planning experience.

Familiarity with CRM systems preferred.

Background in K-12 education policy or related fields.
