Purpose of Job:

Support Interstate Batteries corporate goals by conducting 1) lab equipment related calibration task 2) lab equipment troubleshooting 3) local investigation of vehicle and equipment application issues 4) internal and external technical support functions and 5) other related task as needed.


Job Components:

  • Conduct technical analysis and evaluation of new or existing batteries and electrical/electronic devices (e.g., testers, chargers, Bitrode equipment, battery dimensional analysis) in the lab.
  • Maintain and calibrate lab equipment.
  • Provide data and/or data analysis on product testing/evaluation
  • Provide technical services as needed for internal and external customers (e.g. Answer various technical Internal/External questions)
  • Create and supply technical documents for customers and vendors.
  • Interface with Supplier Quality, i.e., data collection analysis.
  • Assist with data collection installs and fitment studies as needed


Qualifications:

  • Understand basic automotive electrical/electronic principles
  • Ability to run tests, maintain test schedule and analyze test results, including capacity analysis
  • Create and maintain testing and operating procedures
  • Set up optimal test schedules based on test plans to optimize machine utilization.
  • Manage inventory of batteries, chargers and testers
  • Skill set to maintain the test lab, test equipment including calibration processes
  • Ability to set up, maintain and document calibration records
  • Knowledge of product testing standards (i.e. SAE, EN, DIN, JIS, etc.)
  • Proficient in Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Understand engineering schematic diagrams and graphs
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of AC/DC power, electronics
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Produce test reports including preliminary conclusions for the Tech Services customer
  • Update customer on test progress
  • Battery knowledge (is a plus but not required)
  • Experience with Microsoft Access, SQL
  • Clean driving record
  • Overtime as necessary ​


Scope Data :

  • Produce documentation on test performed with a summary of the findings and/or conclusions.


Work Environment:

  • Frequently required to use hands to grasp or handle, talk and hear, stand and walk.
  • Specific vision abilities include close vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
  • Ability to occasionally lift and/or move 50 lbs.
  • Lab environment with exposure to battery warehouse conditions such as exposure to moving equipment mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals.
