Position Description
Continuously investigates new suppliers and consumers of ferrous scrap and raw materials while developing
and building relationships with individuals responsible for buying and selling.
Continuously investigates new sources of scrap and develops relationships with individuals responsible for
selling the scrap.
Contributes market research and forecasting to coordinate the development of micro and macro-level
strategies; while also being responsible for presenting growth initiatives, value-added ideas, and cross-selling
within other divisions of TMS.
Significant travel (50%-80%) meeting with accounts on-site to determine opportunities, as well as establish
and maintain effective business relationships.
Maintain quality standards and resolve discrepancies in accordance with TMS’s management guidelines.
Qualifications
The Ideal Candidate will have a BA/BS in Business Administration or related degree and 3-5 years trading
experience in scrap metals or a related industry.
Must be knowledgeable of all aspects associated with brokered scrap as well as being cognizant of current
market conditions to provide an optimum total cost approach.
Must be a self-starter with the ability to initiate business as well as possess strong negotiating and problem-
solving skills.
Must be an effective communicator.
Must have the ability to effectively perform both independently and as a member of a cross-functional team
with a commitment to cooperation and collaboration among business functions.
Must be proficient with Microsoft Office including Excel and Word as well as ERP software.
Must possess strong oral and written skills; be adept in statistical analysis and market research; and, have a
strong knowledge of the scrap recycling industry.
Must possess integrity, leadership, decision-making, and entrepreneurial skills.
