This is a part-time vacancy with the Santa Ana Police Department. The incumbent(s) may work up to 20 hours per week. Work schedule is to be determined. At this time, there is one vacancy but this number is subject to change. Bilingual pay is an additional $1.01/hr.

Essential Functions Include But Are Not Limited To

Under general direction, the Program Coordinator will plan, coordinate and implement educational and recreational activities including: tutoring, sports, games, mini-excursions, competitive activities, contests, seminars, and special events; compile program/activity descriptions; maintain inventory of supplies and materials; collect and submit participant rosters, attendance sheets, registration forms, monthly statistical reports and other program data; instruct staff, tutors and/or volunteers in the implementation of programs and activities; monitor and evaluate daily activities and make recommendations for improvement; refer staff, volunteers and participants to program administration for recognition of achievements or for disciplinary action; provide general center support, driving and perform other related duties as assigned. Participate cooperatively in work team activities; answer telephone and provide customer assistance over the telephone or in person; maintain a clean and safe work environment conducive to studying and learning; make presentations to members of the community; perform other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school. At least 6 months of any equivalent combination of training and experience in education and/or recreation, or related work, which provides the desirable knowledge, skills and abilities associated with the position. Possession and retention of a valid California Class C driver's license is a condition of employment. Bilingual fluency in English and Spanish is also required.

Desirable Knowledge And Abilities

Knowledge of : Indoor/outdoor activities, sports, and outdoor recreation; event planning. Experience in fitness training, baseball and softball is highly desirable.

Ability to : Work in a team environment and as an individual, work outside in all weather conditions, communicate effectively in English and Spanish, using proper grammar and spelling, both verbally and in writing; operate current office software and equipment and educational software applications; work with large groups of all ages.

Special Requirement : Must be willing and able to work irregular hours, including weekends and evenings on an occasional basis; must be able to lift, push, and carry up to 20 lbs.

Part-Time employees accrue paid sick leave at the rate of one (1) hour of paid sick leave for every thirty (30) hours worked up to a maximum accrual of 6 days or 48 hours. Employees are eligible to use 3 days or 24 hours of accrued paid sick leave in a 12-month period.
