Job Description
The Virginia Tech School of Communication invites applications for a one-year nontenure track instructor appointment (with potential for renewal) to begin in August 2024. The instructor will teach four courses per semester. Potential courses include Multimedia Reporting and Advanced Multimedia Reporting, and visual news reporting.
Applicants must have a master’s degree in journalism or closely related field. Preference will be given to applicants with college teaching experience, applied experience with Adobe Creative Suite, experience with digital photography and videography in order to prepare news content for television, print, and online media, and a knowledge of broadcast interviewing and on-camera performance techniques. Preference will be given to applicants who can demonstrate knowledge and experience in providing an equitable and inclusive educational environment that supports the learning of a diverse student body.
The School of Communication serves more than 1,000 undergraduate students across five majors (sports media and analytics, public relations, multimedia journalism, communication, and advertising) and 30 graduate students in its MA in communication and MA in reputation management degrees. Virginia Tech ranked 5th in the 2022 Sportscasters Talent Association of America ranking of sports broadcasting schools and is accredited by the Public Relations Society of America.
