Legislative & Political Affairs Manager

Responsibilities

  • Engage with members of Congress and staff to influence legislative proposals impacting healthcare delivery, ensuring the organization's stance is well represented and understood.
  • Act as a primary contact for legislative affairs, maintaining relationships with influential congressional staff, and facilitating member interactions with policymakers.
  • Manage information flow to legislative committees, ensuring timely updates on federal legislative activities, and overseeing member engagement in legislative processes.
  • Oversee fellowship programs, including budget management, application processes, and coordination with communication teams for promotion.
  • Participate in coalition activities and represent the organization at various forums, providing summaries and updates to internal teams.
  • Generate content for communications, maintaining active engagement with key stakeholders on legislative issues.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Political Science, Social Science, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years in government relations, with strong project management skills. Experience on Capitol Hill is advantageous but not mandatory.
  • Excellent organizational and multitasking skills, capable of managing multiple priorities in a high-stakes environment.
  • Deep understanding of the legislative process and regulatory frameworks.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively under tight deadlines.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
