Trades and Industrial Arts 3-4. $53,000 to $65,000 annually. Salary depends on education, experience, and certifications. Full-time, 10 to 12-month schedule available, benefit eligible.

Summary

Provides instruction to students in the Industrial Machine and/or Firearms Technology program.

Essential Duties

  • Provides career-oriented instruction and support to students to assist them in the development and/or improvement of Machining and Firearms Technology skills.
  • Provides quality instruction by using effective lesson plan development and strategies.
  • Maintains and submits instructional records in accordance with requirements.
  • Attends meetings and participates in student and/or program assessment as directed.
  • Works with other staff on curriculum and instructional content, and effective uses of multimedia in the development of on-line and blended trades/technology, or on-campus courses.
  • Works professionally and collaboratively with college faculty and staff to aid with the successful student learning outcomes.
  • Designs and maintains course shells in learning management system to communicate assignment related and grade result information.
  • Maintains current knowledge of technology and instructional practices that relate to the use of technology.
  • Engages with other campus areas such as Running Start or Continuing Education to develop and offer diverse courses for students.
  • Fosters positive student and community relations and participates in the recruiting of students.
  • Helps develop and market programs and assists with recruiting effort. Establishes relationships and outreach to K-12 students and staff to increase awareness and develop pathways to college success in career and technical fields.
  • Remains current in practices, trends and research related to areas of assignment.
  • Attends related trainings, workshops, and professional development.
  • Cross trains to perform other departmental and team functions; backfills for staff as needed.
  • Actively participates in the development of a climate that promotes and supports innovation. and efforts to continuously improve services to students, faculty, and the College.
  • Creates and maintains a collaborative and collegial environment with colleagues and maintains effective working relationships.
  • Maintains professional ethics and confidentiality of students in accordance with applicable laws and policies.
  • Advances the mission of FVCC by serving on or convening committees and contributing in the community in college-related activities.
  • Engages with Running Start to offer summer and/or academic year secondary course offerings.
  • Engages with Continuing Education to offer on-ramp courses.
  • May teach courses in the day, evening, and/or possibly weekends, depending on student need.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Reports to the Director of Trades and Industrial Arts.


Minimum Qualifications

The Montana Board of Regents of Higher Education Policy 730 requires the following minimum qualifications for faculty in career and technical disciplines:

  • Three years' experience in the occupation to be taught, OR
  • An equivalent number of years of postsecondary education in the career/technical discipline, combined with work experience in the career/technical discipline.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Academic (AAS or certification) or professional credentials in Industrial Machine and/or Firearms Technology, Gunsmithing, or Welding.
  • Five years of professional industry work experience in Industrial Machine and/or Firearms Technology.
  • Experience teaching in higher education or at a secondary level.

  • Ability to intermittently work non-traditional schedules including evenings, weekends, etc.
  • Ability to maintain regular and acceptable attendance levels.
  • Ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality.
  • Ability to successfully pass a criminal background check.
  • Ability to respond in the event of an emergency.
  • This is a Medium Duty job, according to the Selected Characteristics of Occupations Defined in the Revised Dictionary of Occupational Titles, U.S. Department of Labor and Industry. Medium Duty involves exertion of 20-50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10-25 pounds frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds continuously to move objects.
