Director of Operations

Summary/Objective:

The Director of Operations reports to the Senior Director of Operations. Seeking a seasoned and results-driven Director of Operations with over 10 years of experience in optimizing warehouse operations, inventory control, and logistics management within the food industry/food grade warehousing operations. Adept at leading high-performing teams, implementing process improvements, and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards. Seeking to leverage their strong background in operational excellence and strategic planning to drive efficiency, enhance customer satisfaction, and contribute to the overall success of Gellert Global Group and the Celebrity Warehouse.

Essential Functions:

Direct the operations of multiple temperature control warehouse facility with robotics, packaging, e-commerce, fulfillment and distribution.

Operational Management:

  • Oversee daily warehouse operations, ensuring efficient and effective processes
  • Evaluate overall operations and develop short term and long-term goals
  • Focus on continuous improvement for efficient operations, cost optimization, and customer growth
  • Implement, monitor and meet key performance indicators (KPIs) to track operational performance

Inventory Control:

  • Ensure accurate inventory management and timely stock replenishment
  • Conduct regular inventory audits and cycle counts to maintain stock accuracy

Staff Supervision:

  • Lead and mentor warehouse staff, fostering a culture of safety, productivity, and continuous improvement, transparency, trust, and respect.
  • Develop training programs, SOP’s, and conduct performance evaluations
  • Experience with performance management systems, progressive discipline, and safety reporting

Logistics Coordination:

  • Coordinate inbound and outbound shipments to optimize delivery schedules and reduce transportation costs
  • Liaise with suppliers and customers to ensure timely and accurate order fulfillment

Safety and Compliance:

  • Ensure compliance with food safety regulations and standards, including HACCP, CTPAT, FDA, and USDA requirements
  • Maintain a clean and safe working environment, strictly enforcing health and safety policies and procedures
  • Support and oversee programs to ensure safety of all team members, equipment and property

Process Improvement:

  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement best practices to enhance efficiency
  • Utilize Lean, Six Sigma, or other methodologies to streamline warehouse operations

Budget Management:

  • Develop and manage the warehouse operations budget, including labor, equipment, and material costs
  • Monitor expenses and implement cost-saving measures without compromising service quality

Technology Utilization:

  • Oversee the utilization and enhancement of warehouse management systems (WMS) and other technology solutions
  • Ensure data integrity and accuracy within the WMS and related systems

Customer Service:

  • Ensure high levels of customer satisfaction through effective order management and problem resolution
  • Collaborate with sales and customer service teams to address customer needs and feedback

Strategic Planning:

  • Develop and execute operational strategies aligned with company goals
  • Participate in long-term planning and contribute to business development initiatives

Facility Management:

  • Oversee maintenance staff and repair of warehouse equipment and infrastructure
  • Ensure the facility meets all regulatory and company and government standards for compliance, cleanliness, and safety

Sustainability Initiatives:

  • Implement and promote sustainable practices within warehouse operations
  • Reduce waste and improve energy efficiency wherever possible

Other assigned duties as needed.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in supply chain, logistics, industrial engineering, or a related to distribution operations
  • Minimum of 10 years of Warehouse Operations Leadership, e-commerce, fulfillment and food grade distribution in a high-volume environment
  • At least 5 years experience in operations and/or project management leadership
  • Advanced analytical capabilities and experience with WMS systems
  • Cross functional champion with a safety-first mindset
  • Bilingual English/Spanish a plus
  • Strong experience effectively managing and creating a positive work environment at all levels for hourly and salaried team members
  • Strong and effective communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Steadfast accountability, strategic vision, and cross-functional leadership skills
  • Strongly goal oriented and business sensed in company development
  • Ability to deal with difficult situations and solve problems
  • Attention to detail to ensure quality of work
  • Union management experience
