SUMMARY : Operates computer and peripheral equipment to process data by performing the following duties.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following: Additional duties, which are necessary to carry out the function of the Computer Operator, may be assigned and are incorporated by reference into this job description.

Maintains inventory of consumable items for department.

Enters commands and presses buttons and flips switches on computer and peripheral equipment such as tape drives, printer, data communications equipment, and plotter, to integrate and operate equipment.

Loads peripheral equipment with selected materials such as tapes and printer paper for operating runs, or oversees loading of peripheral equipment by peripheral equipment operators.

Enters commands to clear computer system and start operation.

Observes peripheral equipment and error messages displayed on monitor of terminal to detect faulty output or machine stoppage.

Enters commands to correct error or stoppage and resume operations.

Notifies supervisor of errors or equipment stoppage.

Clears equipment at end of operating run and reviews schedule to determine next assignment.

Records problems that occurred, such as down time, and actions taken.

Upload TELXON

Answers telephone calls to assist computer users encountering problem.

Control running of pick slips and analyzing routes to see which ones can be called.

Works hand in hand with warehouse and performs necessary job to make sure work flow for warehouse is done.

Stamp inventory.

Reports to work on time, as directed by the Vice President of IT, and completes the above listed tasks in a competent manner.

Performs above listed duties in a cooperative, capable manner, processing the information effectively and communicating the information as needed effectively.

All personnel within this job description shall be subject to cross-training into jobs within the organization based on Company needs.

Physical Demands

The physical demands of this job include light physical activity performing activities of an administrative, productive and/or technical nature that must be met by the employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

The employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle or feel and climb or balance. The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, talk or hear, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl and reach with hands or arms. The employee is occasionally required to sit.

The employee is frequently required to lift up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
