Our client, an agriculture startup has recently been financially backed by a leading global agricultural sciences company! This means the company is ready to go commercial! The Senior Controller will be their very first Finance hire and will report directly to the CEO and founder as well as the Chief Business Officer!
The position will be mostly remote, but will require a few days a month onsite at the manufacturing facility currently under construction!
Position Overview
We are seeking a highly experienced and hands-on Senior Controller to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will be self-reliant, willing to wear many hats, and capable of acting as the sole accounting/finance employee. This role is perfect for someone with a strong background in startups or early-stage operations, who is ready to build out accounting and finance processes from the ground up.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee all aspects of the company’s financial operations, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
- Lead the full lifecycle of ERP system implementation, from selection to full deployment.
- Develop, implement, and maintain robust accounting and finance processes and procedures.
- Manage inventory accounting, ensuring precise tracking and reporting.
- Prepare and present financial statements, budgets, and forecasts to the executive team.
- Conduct financial analysis to support strategic planning and decision-making.
- Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local financial regulations.
- Coordinate and manage annual audits and tax filings.
- Collaborate with other departments to support overall business objectives and growth.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in a senior controllership position, preferably within a startup or early-stage company.
- Extensive hands-on experience with ERP systems implementation.
- Strong background in inventory accounting.
- CPA certification preferred.
- Self-starter with the ability to operate independently and effectively in a lean team environment.
- Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
- VA residence preferred.
