At Zeta, we pursue an unprecedented combination of high academic achievement and social-emotional development for our students. Excellent music education is core to our mission. In addition to music classes, we are proud to provide our students with lessons in violin, viola, cello, and piano.

To achieve our vision, we are searching for a Part-time Cello Teacher with a Bachelor's Degree, and at least 2-4 years of relevant teaching experience. If you are passionate about music, love working with motivated students, and are interested in improving educational equity in New York City, come and teach cello with us!

At Zeta you will:

• Teach weekly instrumental lessons to students.
• Lessons are either individual or for groups of up to 4 students
• Lessons are 30 minutes in length, taught during the school day
• Teach cello club (up to 12 students)
• Club meetings are scheduled in the afternoons between 3:30 and 4:30 PM two days per week
• Club activities include ensemble playing, music theory, musicianship, and music appreciation
• Teach from Essential Elements for Strings and Suzuki Method books
• Supplement method book materials with repertoire, improvisation, or composition activities, according to interest
• Communicate with family members at least three times per semester to share progress and set goals for at-home practice
• Prepare all students for juries performed for outside examiners and showcase performances

We are hiring for an immediate start date and onboarding on a rolling basis. The salary for this position is $50.00 an hour.
