Functional Safety Engineer

We have a position for an experienced automotive functional safety engineer or a senior systems engineer with functional safety experience to assist with use of SysML of parts 3 (concept phase) and 4 (product development) artifacts of ISO 26262 requirements.

Job Location : Remote or Hybrid (40% remote)

What you will be doing:

  • Work directly with corporate and business unit (BU) development teams to analyze, design, develop, and support automotive functional safety requirements, reporting, and processes.
  • Bulk of work is taking text based work into semi-formal documents - SysML model based using existing traditional sources.
  • Create appropriate documentation on products needing to be ISO 26262 compliant. Generated based on model content then regeneration of SysML tool.
  • Provide technical support to implementation teams for ensuring compliance to safety standards.
  • Deliverables will be integrated into Dassault Magic Cyber-Systems Engineer tool
  • Use SysML to create a system model diagram from Fu Sa requirements
  • Conduct Safety Analyses / Risk Assessments

The ideal candidate will be knowledgeable in the following areas:

  • ISO 26262, preferably certified. (If not certified, will need to be certified within 6 months of project start)
  • SysML experience
  • Interpretations of requirements into systems behavior
  • Understanding of electronic hardware and software
  • Automotive embedded software experience is preferred
  • Automotive safety experience is required
  • Familiarity with engines and engine systems is strongly preferred
  • Capable of working and communicating effectively cross-functionally
  • Good communication skills - both verbal and written
  • Strong project management skills (preferred experience using MS Project)
  • Solid understanding of System Engineering principles in conjunction with product development lifecycle.
  • Collaborate well with other professionals to ensure high-quality deliverables within guidelines corporate, policies, and procedures.

What you'll need to be successful:

  • College, university, or equivalent Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Systems Engineering or other relevant technical discipline
  • Experience with embedded systems is required.
  • Systems engineer thinking is required.
  • Automotive Functional Safety, ISO 26262, experience required
  • Good communicator - written and verbal
